but we still want to keep some of LCDR White's tradition in our company so that the new cadets can pass it onto the other cadets.... we still want to remember him too you know... we don't want to disrespect his teachings to this unit....

How would we be disrespecting his teachings? How do we know what Commander's teachings are? Do we not do enough? Do we want more? What about our current Commander, is he not good enough for us? I don't understand why all these changes would be disrespecting Commander's teachings. A rank does not teach anyone anything!!!! But it sure does upset people from what I see.

well duh!!! some people think that too you know.... they want to keep what he taught us and his traditions alive by keeping it the same.... but they don't know that there are always changes to everything.... there are always things that will make something better ok..... they just don't see that.... WHAT we need to do is to let him go, but still keep him in our hearts....sniff

Melissa's right. You have a new commander and he'll do well by you guys, honestly. Don't forget what you learned from LCDR White, but don't do things and don't make decisions because of him. He's gone and it was his choice to leave and you guys should at least respect him enough to let this all go and do what the new commander wants. You couldn't expect him to be there forever and in the real world, 5 years is about as long, if not longer than, you can keep any sort of consistency going. He did a lot of things well, but you guys need to trust the new commander to do well too or you just create more dysfunction in that unit. By living up to your potential, you respect LCDR White's memory more than you could any other way. I promise.

well this is the actual year where we really put the things that commander white has given us into test and combine it with the new knowledge and insight given from commander toole. being taught by two different commanders with two different ways of seeing things will teach us as cadets to open our eyes wider and not just look through a box but to rip it open and see everything that is possible. We should be known as the best considering the fact that we have had at least two different senior instructors both well--educated to come and instruct us

okay, i have not been on here in a while to monitor my post but i'm back now with tons of new knowledge. for a minute there i was getting scared of reading those posts....lol but.... i have been in the fleet for about half a year and i have new leaders who in a way remind me of commander white. but, you guys also have a new leader. nobody is saying that you should forget the teachings of commander white, instead we are saying pair that knowledge with the wisdom of future leaders. even if you have a bad leader in life learn what NOT to do from them and continue to be the best leader you can be.

yea, you learn different traits from different leaders, you take the bad as what not to do, and the good as what you must do. once you have it down kinda good. teach others

i wish i could've met LCDR white he sounds so fun... but. the NS4's ( 08-09) need to share more about LCDR if you guys want his wisdom to be passed on, speaking for myself, I don't know much about LCDR and probably most of the upcoming sophomore class doesn't know anything about him either. So just tell us about him, so we can have some of that wisdom too ^.^;
